The Bloody Indulgent: A Vampire Musical.. Review Type Thing.

The Bloody Indulgent: A Vampire Musical.. Review Type Thing.
By Ms. Connie

Ever since I heard this was filming I became a tad bit overly excited about seeing it. My 3 favorite things in one movie: Vampires, Blood.. & Kevin Richardson? Yes please! Oh and it's a musical too? SWEET!! I finally got my chance during the Scare LA Halloween Convention when the producers decided to hold a screening.

Before continuing with this review you should know something about me. I love horror. Everything horror. From the Grotesque to the Campy.. From The Exorcist to Sharknado. I love it all. With that being said...

The Bloody Indulgent starts off with our boy Kevin Scott chasing some dude down an alley singing "It’s your muthafuckin birthday.." Huh?? My thoughts went from "What. The Fuck. Am I watching.." To "..awwww honey, what were you thinking?"

Then.. I got sucked in.

Super short Synopsis: After the murder of their boss, by a coke head Vampire, a group of really really pissed off strippers seek revenge.. while everyone sings songs..

First thing I spotted was Diva Zappa.. Frank Zappa's daughter. Im sure some of you have no idea who that is, but I thought that was pretty damn cool! As she's singing a song about a "Boy Sex Toy" I'm thinking yeah I'm gonna like this.

Then chaos.. Not Kaos.. but CHAOS! Chaos which starts with a murder.. the DJ going "fuck yeah" in an emotional fist pump as he puts on the next song (what? But someone just got attacked, lol) and ends with our boy once again singing.. but this time it was completely wild ( it’s hard to explain.. you just have to see it). This club scene was one of my favorites. The cinematography was perfect.  Everything about it was just epic.
[Side note: Diva Zappa's name in the movie... is Connie. (Whaaaaaat?!) So yeah, Kevin totally said my name in the movie *eek!*]

So.. After leaving the club, our Vampire Hero.. er.. Villain.. Um.. Burt heads to the spot where he gets his drugs.. and "feeds".. and many many many WTFs came out of my mouth. It was hilariously in-sane.

..there was this part where Kevin goes "..who's my bitch.."

um... *slowly raising hand*
Haha.. Ok sorry.. lol!!

Meanwhile, the pissed off strippers enlist the help of a Vampire Hunter to kill Burt (How dare they, right?) ..and they decide to have a strip-a-thon to raise the money to pay for him. That's right, I said strip-a-thon. It actually happened.

By the way, there's Zombies also. Yep.. Keeps getting better.

SO.. After the money is raised to pay for the Vampire Hunter, the strippers head to where Burt is hanging out.. to do the deed. Chaos ensues once again and the movie ends with an all out epic Vampire/Stripper brawl of awesome epicness.

What a roller-coaster ride..
In the end, I would recommended this movie just for the sheer fun of it. I wouldn't suggest going into it trying to over analyze things, It’s a Vampire Musical...

To quote the producer “It’s dangerous, Naughty, and Weird”

I was lucky enough to snag a brief interview with Kenneth Hughes ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0002998/ ), the Producer of The Bloody Indulgent. He also plays the part of the Vampire Hunter in the film.

Ms. Connie: During the course of the film, I noticed that none of the Vampires showed fangs.. What was the reasoning behind that?

Kenneth Hughs: IT WAS A STYLISTIC CHOICE. THIS SHOW WAS MEANT TO DISTINGUISH ITSELF FROM THE OTHER VAMPIRE AND ZOMBIE FILMS.
OUR VAMPIRES WERE SHOWN WITH THEIR RED EYES AND NOT FANGS. THE FANGS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SCARY IN THE OTHER VAMPIRE FILMS BUT IN THIS ONE THE EYES ARE SCARY. IT IS SUBTLE BUT IMPORTANT. THE MOVIE SHOWS THE HUMANITY OF THESE MONSTERS (ZOMBIES, VAMPIRES) AND IT ALSO SHOWS HOW AWFUL HUMANS CAN BE...MONSTROUS REALLY. SO MIXING UP EXPECTED THINGS LIKE FANGS IS A WAY TO GET PEOPLE TO PAY ATTENTION MORE TO THE SUBTLE POINTS OF THE FILM...AND ITS SEXIER!

Ms. Connie: Overall, what was the biggest challenge with this production?

KH: THERE ARE A LOT OF VISUAL EFFECTS THAT TAKE A LOT OF COMPUTER GENIUS TO MAKE HAPPEN. WE ALSO TOOK A LOT OF RISKS MAKING THIS STORY. IT IS NOT A STANDARD COMMERCIAL MOVIE. IT’S DANGEROUS AND NAUGHTY AND WEIRD!! WHICH MADE IT FUN FOR US BUT ALSO ITS CHALLENGING BREAKING NEW GROUND AND MAKING A UNDERGROUND MUSICAL.

Ms. Connie: What was it like working with Kevin Richardson?

KH: EVERYONE WILL ALWAYS SAY THEIR STAR BRILLIANT...EXCEPT ME! I WILL ALWAYS TELL YOU THE 100 PERCENT TRUTH.
THE TRUTH IS KEVIN IS THE MOST AMAZING TALENT TO WORK WITH. FIRST OF ALL HE IS SO REAL AND AUTHENTIC WITH ALL THE CAST AND CREW BRINGING A GREAT VIBE TO THE SET. THAT IS WHAT MAKES WORKING WITH STARS (OR ANYONE) AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE. HE TORE INTO THE ROLL AND TOOK SO MANY RISKS AND SUCCEEDED WITH THEM ALL. HIS CHARACTER IS SO BAD AND SO DAMN CHARMING AT THE SAME TIME THAT IT IS VERY HARD WORK TO DO AND HE HAD A BLAST DOING IT AND DID IT VERY WELL. I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT WHAT A GREAT CELEBRITY HE IS AND A GREAT PERSON...THE TWO CAN BE VERY DIFFERENT.

Ms. Connie: I can easily see this becoming a cult classic.. Any chance of Burt reprising his role in another film?

KH: IT WOULD BE VERY POSSIBLE TO HAPPEN.

Ms. Connie:  We have a lot of fans dying to see this film. Is there a set release date? If so, when/where?

KH: WE ARE TALKING TO A LOT OF DISTRIBUTORS AND MAY SOON CHOOSE TO PUT IT ONLINE IF WE DON’T GET SOMETHING WORKED OUT SOON BECAUSE WE ARE DYING (TEE HEE) TO SHOW IT TO THE WORLD!

Update: You can now watch The Bloody Indulgent on VIMEO.. right here: The Bloody Indulgent
